Favorite Altered Art

I have had the opportunity to apply for a DT that would feature Altered Art.  I'm over the moon excited to try out for this team.  It would fit perfectly with the other teams I'm on right now and compliment my style.  I was asked to include 6-10 of my favorite pieces that I have made that showcase my ability to alter or create mixed media art.  I thought I'd include them all in a blog post as I can only upload 5 to my email... silly email.

So, in no particular order, here are my favorite projects using altered or mixed media art:
1. DMC - Faber Castell blue banner.  I used canvas, cardboard, and a variety of their product and other materials to create this banner.  It was featured in many craft magazines in their ads for about 2-3 months.

2. Bib necklace that I made for the Bad Girls kits.  This was mostly made of fabric, ribbons, flowers and beads but I can see using acrylic pieces and other materials to make something similar.
 3. A paper mache box made with modeling paste as the frosting and a bunch of different embellishments including bling, cardboard, cut outs, paper pieces, metal charms and patterned papers.
 4. Fairy Door... One of my favorites!  I took a wooden door and embellished it with paints, flowers, metal pieces, papers, and mists.  This one hung outside my door for a couple years before it faded a bit.  I plan to make another one soon!
 5. Gilded Cage of Motherhood... made from hangers, metal, cardboard, paper mache form, rub ons, chipboard, gold leafing, paint, and feathers.
 6. Holiday Traditions wall hanging.  I made this for my Christmas decor.  I took cardboard, sprayed it with glimmer mist and templates and added embossed chipboard, tags, patterned papers, acrylic shapes, and bling to create a fun piece that I display each holiday season.

 7.  The World Through My Eyes.  An altered record... metal, paint, chipboard, leaves, and a multitude of symbolism.
 8. A mixed media mini album all about My Loves.  I cut the hearts from cardboard, acrylic, vellum, canvas, and chipboard.  Embellished with paints, tags, stamps, flowers, etc...

 9.  Fly Canvas- I made this with the new Dream kit for Scrapbooking From The Inside Out... Embossing powders are from WOW!  and Suzy West.  The rest is from the kit including the frames and I made the feathers from paper and wire.

 10. Altered container for gift giving!  I taught this class at my LSS too!  I used Faber Castell products for the colors!  I could see using many different products to alter this box!
Well, they asked for 10 but I can't resist throwing in a couple more of my favs.
Altered canvas... lots of mediums here and would love to do more of these!

My altered canvas bag using Gelatos and pens from Faber Castell.

Altered art using many materials - I won 1st place at the NYS Fair for this!
Mostly I love altering items to take them out of their original purpose and create art pieces but I also enjoy altering books, canvas, and adding materials to my scrapbook pages as well.  I hope you enjoyed my journey through my altered/ mixed media art.
